Shaambavi, 2024. 15” x 12” with frame.
Textured acrylics, beads, silk fabric.
Shaambavi captures the grace and beauty of a Bharatanatyam dancer’s feet. The dancer’s feet, adorned with henna, tell a story of tradition and devotion. Encircling her ankles are salangai—ghungroos or ankle bells—that resonate with the rhythm of her dance. She wears a rich silk saree, the fabric flowing gracefully around her legs, its texture and vibrant colors adding to the elegance of the scene.
